Chapter News

  • Rockland Nurses Honor Guard is forming

    START-UP MEETING
    Thursday, April 18 6:00 – 7:30 PM
Blauvelt Library 541 Western Hwy., Blauvelt, NY 10913
    Light refreshments will be provided

    About Us
We are nurses from Rockland County,
New York. We share a mission to pay
a heartfelt tribute to the dedicated
    nurses of our community nearing
the end of life or at the time of their
    passing.
    Memorial Tributes
Much like the solemn military and
    police ceremonies, volunteer nurses
pay homage to beloved colleagues at
their funeral or memorial service or
by performing a living tribute as they
near the end of life. It’s a moment
    of closure, acknowledging their
remarkable journey in the world of
    healthcare. Our service also provides
    a healing moment for grieving
    families and friends.
    A Touching Tradition
    The ceremony is a powerful
    reminder of the nurse’s dedication
and sacrifice. Dressed in the classic
    white uniform, complete with
cape and cap, the Nurses Honor
    Guard carries out a poignant
    ceremony lasting about ten minutes.
    This includes:
    • Inviting other nurses to take part in
    the tribute.
    • Reading a short biography.
    • Reciting the International Pledge or
    the Nightingale Tribute and other
    readings.
    • Carrying a Nightingale Lamp.
    • Placing a white rose near the
    bedside, casket or urn.
    • Taking a roll call to
    officially release the
    nurse from duty.
    “May my life be
    devoted to service
    and to the high
    ideals of the
    nursing profession.”
     — NIGHTINGALE PLEDGE
