We share a mission to paya heartfelt tribute to the dedicatednurses of our community nearingthe end of life or at the time of theirpassing.Memorial TributesMuch like the solemn military andpolice ceremonies, volunteer nursespay homage to beloved colleagues attheir funeral or memorial service orby performing a living tribute as theynear the end of life. It’s a momentof closure, acknowledging theirremarkable journey in the world ofhealthcare. Our service also providesa healing moment for grievingfamilies and friends.A Touching TraditionThe ceremony is a powerfulreminder of the nurse’s dedicationand sacrifice. Dressed in the classicwhite uniform, complete withcape and cap, the Nurses HonorGuard carries out a poignantceremony lasting about ten minutes.This includes:• Inviting other nurses to take part inthe tribute.• Reading a short biography.• Reciting the International Pledge orthe Nightingale Tribute and otherreadings.• Carrying a Nightingale Lamp.• Placing a white rose near thebedside, casket or urn.• Taking a roll call toofficially release thenurse from duty.“May my life bedevoted to serviceand to the highideals of thenursing profession.” — NIGHTINGALE PLEDGE
